Welcome

I have been producing photographs for over forty years. What inspires me to create this work is the city. As in many of the large New England mill towns of the 1950's, the city I came of age in was collapsing as a result of the decline of industry and the flight to the suburbs. It is a subject I know well. Urban scenes are in my blood, be they in Rome or on the streets of mid-America Fort Wayne, Indiana. This feel for the architecture of the structures and the culture of the people all drive the concepts and vision of the photographs.

Simply, I extrapolate from my own personal experience. Photography is part experiment, part imagination. I'm part engineer and part artist. As I take a photograph, part of it is planned, part of it is spontaneous. It's an interactive process with the environment surrounding me. I take the camera out the door and into the streets not looking for grand statements, epic scenes or iconic views - more often than not, I select an ordinary view. I want to get beyond the surface. What I seek is something a bit magical.

Through my photography I endeavor to document my own personal experiences, to capture scenes and events as I see them, and to share with others the beauty and diversity of the world I can see. If I can cause you to pause and reflect on the simple beauty of an ordinary urban scene, then I have been successful.

My fine art photos have appeared in solo and group shows, international exhibitions, publications (magazines, calendars, newsletters, books, annual reports, etc.), Internet websites, photo trade shows, and private collections.

I invite you to join me as I present an uncommon view of our world.
